That’s an interesting observation. CSS’s translateX() does not affect the DOM, and therefore you might achieve better performance with it. It’s not fully implemented across all browsers, and in Chrome, there is no difference. I think in simple cases where you just have one or two objects it shouldn’t make a whole lot of difference. No more than the bandwidth delay downloading resources, at least in my case.
